A clear starting point
You can get good dental care without having to decode a benefit booklet.
Not having dental insurance should not mean putting off a toothache, a cleaning, or the chance to ask a question. At Kestrelmoor, you pay the same posted fee we discuss before care begins. There is no network to navigate and no estimate passed off as a final answer.
For a first visit, that means $185 for a comprehensive exam, the x-rays you need, an oral cancer screening, and a written treatment plan. You will know what we found, what your options are, and what each option costs before you decide.

A straightforward way to make a dental decision.
Start with the full picture.
Whether you are coming in because something hurts, it has been a while, or you are simply ready for a cleaning, the first appointment starts with a careful exam and the x-rays that help us see what is going on. We do not ask you to decide about care before you understand the condition it is meant to address.
Talk through the options.
Not every finding calls for the same next step. We will explain what we see, what we recommend, and what can wait. You can ask what a treatment involves, how many visits it may take, and what the alternatives are. The goal is a decision that feels informed, not cornered.
See the cost before care begins.
When treatment is recommended, you receive a written plan with a price on every line. That gives you room to decide whether to move ahead now, schedule a later visit, or choose a different option. We want the money conversation to be clear enough that you can focus on your teeth.
Without a plan from an insurer
What stays simple when you pay directly.
Dental insurance can be useful, but it does not set the standard for whether you can receive thoughtful care. At Kestrelmoor, we do not change the conversation based on an insurance card. We start with your health, the time you have, and the amount you are comfortable spending.
If a treatment can be planned in stages, we will talk about that. If you want to begin with the most urgent concern and come back for something else, we can make a plan around that, too. The important thing is that each next step has a purpose and a known price. A clear treatment plan lets you take care of what needs attention without turning every decision into an all-or-nothing commitment.
Paying directly also means you are not waiting for a claim decision before you know where you stand. For common care, the posted price is the price you can use to plan. For treatment that needs more information, we will give you the most honest estimate we can after the exam, rather than guessing over the phone. If the plan changes because the clinical picture changes, we will stop and explain that before moving forward.
That approach is especially helpful when you have been avoiding a visit because you are unsure what it will involve. You do not need to arrive with a finished treatment plan or a perfect explanation of the problem. Start with the first visit, ask the questions you need to ask, and use the written plan to decide what feels right for you.
You are also welcome to call before booking if you want to understand the first-visit fee, how the membership works, or whether a listed price applies to the care you have in mind. We will be direct about what we can answer before an exam and what needs a closer look in the chair. That little bit of clarity can make it easier to stop waiting and make the first appointment.

What happens first
We look carefully, then put the next steps in plain language.
Some visits are straightforward. Others need a little more attention. Either way, Dr. Dunfee starts by understanding what is going on, answering your questions, and showing you the choices. If treatment is recommended, the plan spells out the price before you agree to it.
That includes the ordinary things people often avoid asking about: fillings, crowns, a custom night guard, whitening, or an extraction. If your gums need deeper cleaning, we explain the reason and the fee first. No treatment begins because you felt rushed into it.

Pay for the care you need, or make routine visits more predictable.
Pay as you go
If you prefer to pay only when you come in, that is completely fine. We post self-pay prices for the treatments patients ask about most, then give you a written price for anything that needs a closer look.
Use a card, HSA or FSA card, or check. There is no membership requirement and no pressure to choose a plan.
Plan your first visitThe Kestrelmoor Plan
For people who want routine care to feel less unpredictable, our in-office membership includes preventive visits and 15% off other care we provide. Adult plans are $34 a month or $375 a year. Children under 14 are $25 a month or $270 a year.
There is no deductible, no annual maximum, no waiting period, and no claim form. If you join at your first visit, we credit that $185 toward your first year.
See the membership planTime matters, too
A full hour for hygiene care, not a hurried handoff.
Routine care has a way of becoming easy to postpone when it feels like another administrative chore. Kestrelmoor sets aside a full hour for each hygiene visit so there is room for the cleaning, Dr. Dunfee’s exam, x-rays when they are due, and the questions you have been holding onto.
That unhurried approach is useful whether you pay as you go or choose the membership plan. You leave with a clear picture of your care, not an unexplained balance and a lot to figure out later.

You do not need insurance to deserve a clear price and a dental team that takes the time to explain it.
Frequently asked questions
Can I see a dentist if I do not have insurance?
Yes. You do not need dental insurance to make an appointment at Kestrelmoor Dental. We will explain the care we recommend and its cost before you decide what happens next. Bring the questions that have been keeping you from scheduling, and we will make room to answer them.
What does a first visit cost?
A first visit is $185. It includes a comprehensive exam, the x-rays you need, an oral cancer screening, and a written plan with prices before you leave.
Can I get a cleaning at my first visit?
If your gums are healthy, a same-day cleaning is available for $110 more. When deeper cleaning is needed, we explain why and give you the price before treatment begins.
Is the membership plan insurance?
No. The Kestrelmoor Plan is a membership for routine care at our office. It has no deductible, waiting period, yearly maximum, or claim form, and members receive 15% off other care we provide.
What if I have insurance later?
We are out of network with all insurance companies. If you have a PPO plan, we can file an out-of-network claim electronically, and your insurer pays you directly.
